What is compared

A travel eSIM is a data plan for one destination or region, bought before the trip and activated on arrival, sold by the number of days and either a data allowance or unlimited data. OpenStream reads the providers' own destination pages nightly, records each plan's price in the currency the page shows it in, and converts it to Australian dollars at the Reserve Bank of Australia's published rate for that day (table F11.1), storing the rate and its date with the row.

Per day is the comparable figure

Plans run from a few days to a month, so the price is divided by the days to rank them; the row keeps the full price, the days and the allowance so a plan that is cheapest per day but longer than the trip is visible as such. "Cheapest unlimited for a week or more" is the second figure on each destination page because it is the question most people ask.

Choosing

Pick the destination, then the shortest plan that covers the trip at the allowance you use at home (the mobile check shows your usual gigabytes); the destination page lists every plan read with its native price, the AUD figure and the rate date. The trip planner prices a multi-country trip: plan a trip.
