What postcode is the bill for?

Usage set at about 5,128 kWh a year. The postcode decides your network and its published plans; add the bill amount if you have it and we say how many would cost less.

What the check does

Your postcode gives your network and your bill's kWh gives your usage. We cost every plan published to the Australian Energy Regulator at that usage and show how many would cost less and which is cheapest. Estimates, not quotes; ranked on cost alone, nothing promoted. See a postcode page for an example.

Open pricing means Australians can be better informed, and save more.

Most comparison sites show a fraction of the market: the retailers that pay to be listed. OpenStream prices every plan every retailer publishes to the Australian Energy Regulator and Victorian Energy Compare, 9,629 published offers priced from 40 retailers in the regulator's listings, re-read nightly. Nothing is promoted, every plan links to the regulator's record, and the whole dataset is free to download.
