Is your Texas electricity rate too high? Check it against every listed offer.

Three numbers from your Electricity Facts Label or bill: your delivery zone, the average price per kWh at your usage point and the usage itself (500, 1,000 or 2,000 kWh a month, the three points every Texas label states). We cost every plan the PUCT lists for your zone at that point, say how many would cost less, which is cheapest and what it would save over a year. Nothing is a quote and nothing is promoted.

OpenStream is not yet registered as a broker with the PUCT and earns nothing from any retailer. How we are paid.

What the check does

Power to Choose, the PUCT's listing, states every plan's average price at 500, 1,000 and 2,000 kWh a month exactly as its Electricity Facts Label does. Given your zone we know which plans apply; given your usage point we take the matching average; given your own average we can say how many plans would cost less at that point, which is cheapest and what it would save. The ranking is price alone and every plan links to the retailer's own page.

Common questions

Which figure do I enter?
The average price per kWh your current plan's Electricity Facts Label states at your usage point (every Texas label states it at 500, 1,000 and 2,000 kWh), or your bill's total divided by its kWh. Both are all-in averages, delivery included, which is how Power to Choose lists every plan here.
Why only three usage points?
The PUCT's listing and every Electricity Facts Label quote the average at exactly 500, 1,000 and 2,000 kWh, and a plan with a bill credit can be cheap at one and dear at another; costing it anywhere between would be a guess, so the check stays on the listed points and shows all three on each row.
How is OpenStream paid?
It is not: OpenStream is not registered as a broker with the PUCT and earns nothing from any retailer. Every link is a plain hand-off to the retailer's own enrolment page with any referral tag removed.

Check your ZIP code

Which counties it is in and which delivery utilities serve them.
