Is your Ohio electricity rate too high? Check it against every listed offer.

Three numbers from your bill: your utility, the supply rate per kWh and any monthly fee your supplier charges, and your monthly kWh; or tick that you have never chosen a supplier and the baseline is your utility's Price to Compare. We cost every offer the PUCO's Apples to Apples lists for your utility at that usage, say how many would cost less, which is cheapest and what it would save over a year. Nothing is a quote and nothing is promoted.

OpenStream holds no Ohio certification from the PUCO and earns nothing from any supplier. Every link to a supplier is a plain hand-off. How we are paid.

What the check does

The PUCO's Apples to Apples chart lists every certified supplier's rate per kWh for the generation supply portion of the bill and, separately, its monthly fee, with the utility's Price to Compare above the table. Given your utility we know which offers apply; given your kWh we spread each fee over it; given your own rate and fee (or the Price to Compare) we can say how many offers would cost less for supply, which is cheapest and what it would save. The ranking is price alone and every offer links to the supplier's own page.

Common questions

Which figures do I enter?
The generation supply rate per kWh on your bill and, if your supplier charges one, its monthly fee; the utility's delivery charges are not part of the comparison because they are the same whichever supplier you choose. If you have never chosen a supplier, tick the box and the baseline is the utility's Price to Compare as the PUCO's chart states it.
What is the Price to Compare?
The utility's own generation rate for a dated period, stated above each Apples to Apples table and on your bill. An offer below it saves on supply; one above it costs more. The chart states the current period only.
What about governmental aggregation?
If your community buys supply for residents as a group, your bill names the aggregation's supplier and its rate; enter that rate and fee like any other. Whether your community aggregates is on the bill and your community's own site; this page does not say.
How is OpenStream paid?
It is not: OpenStream holds no Ohio certification from the PUCO and earns nothing from any supplier. Every link is a plain hand-off to the supplier's own sign-up page as the chart lists it, with any referral tag removed.

Check your ZIP code

Which counties it is in, which utilities serve them, and where there is no supplier choice.

Says which counties the ZIP is in and which utilities serve them, from the Census and EIA-861, and which of those carry supplier choice. Which one serves your address is on your bill.
